He's about 2 inches long.. i just recently read that he needs to be fed twice a day.. i used to feed him 10-15 times a day because he's always staring at me and asking for food.. D: and now i'm even temted to feed him again.. T_T

i give him about 4-6 pellets every 30 minutes before.. please advise.. i don't want him to be healthy.. and grow big.

Hi hun, you should only feed him 2 or 3 times a day. Put some pellets in there and watch... Only feed what he can eat in two minute. After that you need to take a net and remove all uneaten foods.

Ignore the begging. They are great at begging!! LOL

Don't be taken in by Oscars, they can make you feel very guilty , always wanting food. Three times a day should be perfectly okay. Feed for around three minutes and then stop. You oscar should get more than enough food then

well, what you have is what i have for my tilapia... it is high
in crude protein, a good growth booster. however, for long fish
keeping practice, you should give your fish a varied foods to
keep them healthy. too much booster is not good if you are not
going to harvest your fish....

as nicki and OFL have said, 3 minutes rule should be observed.
don't be fooled by that wiggling tails..

oh i forgot to mention.. i've tried feeding him flakes that are colored red and green, but it's too much messy because the little bits aren't eaten and they just fall off.. should i feed him with flakes too?

I dont use flakes as they are messy like you said and not good for the water quality. They need a variety in their diet. I feed my O;s pellets routinely but also give them treates such as dried brine shrimp and krill, frozen bloodworms ( they go nuts for them) and live crickets ( very small)about once a week. You can also feed them veggies such as zucchini, carrots, peas, etc. There is a section on forum just on feeding.
