I bought 50 Fathead Minnows (Rosey Reds) 24 hours ago. This is what I came home to...

Nasty...
Keeping fish is only as hard as you choose to make it.

Very good point. I recently bought six Cardinal tetras and five of them died the same day, the remaining one is perfectly okay, and will not be fed to my Oscars might add. I don't know if anything was wrong with them such as diseases but I would have never known that if I had just fed them to my Oscar straightaway. Keep your fish for a few days and if any die, or look ill, discard them, don't feed them to your Oscar under any circumstances.

I use to have trouble like that but I set up a tank thats always has at least 10 feeders in it, do my tests/water changes and make sure that there is an air stone in there and I haven't had any rosey reds dies in a few weeks.

This is my permanent quarantine tank. I keep 10-40 feeders in it at all times to feed my clown knife. My Oscar isn't interested in eating fish in his old age. This is the worst batch I've gotten from the store in a long time though. I have no idea what is wrong with these fish but I suspect that it's just getting late in the feeder season and these guys have just had too tough of a life thus far. Diseased or not. The last thing you need is a bunch of fish rotting in your show tanks underneath decorations or plants.
Keeping fish is only as hard as you choose to make it.

Oh, that sucks. At least feeders are pretty cheap but it is pretty horrible to have to flush half of the one you just bought.
