first, i couldn't figure out why i lost my fish last june. my LadyGreyBelly
just stop eating and died. autopsy shows she died of constipation due to
chicken gizzard my son gave them when i was out.

2nd, i couldn't figure out how did my BlackStripe change his color from this



to this:


3rd, i couldn't figure out how in the hell i forgot to close the lid after cleaning
the tank and lost him when he jump out of the tank.

In pic 2 the oscars seem to match the substrate... was it changed when it turned red?

when he did change his color, i removed the substrate thinking that
it may have an effect for the sudden change... but no, he did not
return to his original color.

the picture with red color was my last shot of him after cleaning the tank
that night... and perhaps, that shot makes me forgot to slide-in the lid.

yes indeed, it was amazing.... he did change color when i gave him
a tiger tankmate.

just here in my neighborhood lfs. they were sold as tiger
but grew up without color marking

why your fish changed colour after so long has me puzzled, did you feed prawns/shrimp with shell? the shell contains something ( i can't remember what) that helps bring out colour.

ever since, fresh grass shrimp is one among the regular foods because it
is readily available at 20 cents/3 days food, together with beefheart and
pork spleen.... when he lost his partner and i introduce a tiger with him,
he gradually change the color...i had remove the substrate thinking that
it has something to do with the sudden change...but it become more red.
