Hey, I'm pretty new to this world and was just curious if leaving dead feeder fish in my tank for the oscar to eat would be a bad move??
I'm pretty sure they would get toxic in the water after awhile, i'm just curious how much time i have before i should remove them from the tank. i just bought a bunch today and most of them died within an hour or two of being put in the tank (yes, i let them get accustomed to the water temp for close to an hour). i've just got the 1 tiger oscar in a 55gal setup.

and besides that anyone know a way to get my oscar and jack depsey to stop fighting and why the depsey seems to kick my oscars ass regularly??? i've since separated them in separate tanks, they didnt used to fight but after about a year together things turned sour!

well feeding live foods such as feeders does increase aggresion in both fish most of us here dont feed feeders because of the low amount of nutrition and the very likely chance that the feeders are diseased..... if it were me i would remove the dead feeders immediatley but thats just me

I too would remove the feeders immediately. They are known for caring many diseases. If they died within a few hours they were likely VERY ill.

I wouldn't feed feeders anymore as they aren't a good source of nutrition, they increase aggression, and they will likely make your Oscar VERY sick!

If feeding them is something you feel you must do, PLEASE quarantine the feeders in a separate tank for a minimum of two weeks so you can be sure they are healthy!

been giving him feeders since he was big enough to eat em and have never had a problem. also my girlfriend had an oscar years ago, fed it feeders all the time with no problems. but i'll take the advice to heart, its my little girls fish and she'd be devastated if something were to happen!
but he seems very happy otherwise in his new home!!! he'll probably soon outgrow this tank and it will be back to craigslist to find another cheaper bigger one!

now i think your actively trying to scare the pants off me!!! tank works fine, 55gal with stand and everything needed for 120 and i just had to replace the air pump, no biggie!
