My oscar has a habit of battering the lid of it's tank when it's being ignored, i swear i'm not anthromorphizing, i'm sure it's doing it for attention. Any one else notice this behaviour.

is it constant or just every now and then. mine do it too, but i believe it is because they think they see something edible above the water.
Please, for my sake, change your oil!

It seems to be pretty constant, every time i come back from work i see him gulping at the glass, begging for food, typical oscar behaviour. But he always seems to bash the lid when i'm not looking. This only happens before feeding, but there's nothing above him but black plastic. I reckon he's timed his behaviour before feeding, cheeky f£$%ker

He may have worked out that if he bashes the lid he gets fed. A bit like a dog that chases cars, the dogs chases and barks at the cars and they drive off. So the dog thinks he is scaring them away. Try leaving it later before feeding and see what happens. Keep us informed

oscar try to explore area beyond the tank thinking it is still water.
that is the reason why there are time why they jump. any opening or
gap is considered passage and will try to explore or there is food available.
