we are renovating our living room & have put new lights in the ceiling, when we turn them on, oscar lies on his side in the tank, when we turn it off he swims around. is he sulking? how long will it take him to get used to change

Its hard to say how long he'll take to get used to it, all O's are individuals... have you tried bribing him to stop sulking with a treat?

Maybe he'll snap out of it if he thinks light on = 'treat'?

I've had the same problem last year as stated in this topic www.oscarfishlover.com/oscar-fish-advice...-oscars-freaking-out

all you need to do is give your oscars some time to get adjusted to the new light settings. Mine took a few days & they were fine after that. Oscars are fussy little guys..

How true, when mine is sulking for whatever reason, even during wc, I can show him a fat worm, and he'll forget he was sulking in no time!

I thought people where full of Sh!t when they said Oscars are 'River dogs' before i got one.... but they are like little puppies.. when it comes to food, begging, attention etc..

I seriously think my dog and my Oscar are jealous and hate each other LOL.

Just use the lights as you normally would. Your oscar will soon get used to it

you are right, he's come good, except very funny last night - we have brought him a new big tank and we put it on a bench & he can see it, he keeps checking it out! any advice on the transfer process?

Transfer as much water from the old tank to the new tank as possible, also move the filter to the new tank
