My oscar managed to jump out of the tank while I was working a sleepover shift. I am totaly gutted Never thought I would feel like this over a fish!!

Everyone is saying to me "just get another one" but I don't think he can be replaced. I currently have him in the freezer until I decide were to put him can't bring myself to throwing him in the bin! (I live in a block of flats in the middle of Edinburgh)

That is very sad, I am sorry. This is why a substantial lid is very important with Oscars, they are jumpers and can dislodge a flimsy lid.

Heavy plates and preferabley locked are the best option to prevent this in the future.
Sorry for your loss!

Sorry for your loss.

Its a bit late now but its best to have cover glass and then a wooden top to stop your fish jumping out. The cover glass reduces moisture getting into the lid
I can't get no sleep

Thanks guys for your comments. Only someone who has Tiger Oscar's can only really understand how it feels to lose them. Totally gutted.

It's funny cause I have a very large tank with a glass lid and a wooden top at my parents house. Was going to be getting it delivered in 3 weeks. Bit late now .

Oh well, I will just have to raise another one

Any fish loss is devastating for those of us who love our fish. Sometimes these things happen by accident and we don't intentionally intend on harming our finned friends but I can say from personal point of view, if it ever does happen, I feel devastated that I have caused harm or stress to my little guys.
