hey
just got 2 new red tiger oscars and set up a new tank. The tank has been set up for about 4 or 5 days and i have put benificial bactira in the water. The PH is nutral. i also put some water conditioner in. The fish have been in there for about 8 hours, Dont know wether this is something to worry about but one of the fish went pale pretty much as soon as i put him in the water. Why is this?

first and foremost.... welcome to the site.

your oscar is in distress...you have uncycled tank plus the bagging and shipping
stress.

normally, tank should be cycled before putting fish in it except for the sturdy
fishes that are usually used for cycling the tank. that is no difference from
a person swimming in a swimming pool that has been newly treated with muriatic
acid but not balance yet....

welcome to OFL!
May I ask how big your tank is and how many gallons it holds?

Hate to be a party pooper here, but I need to tell you this:
100 liters is too small for even one oscar and they grow like crazy!
Seeing your filter is not cycled yet, you're in for some trouble.
You get some shock by transport anyways and your fish maybe fine for now, but the toxins in the water will not be recycled properly at the moment and will damage your fish.
When can you get a bigger tank, is it soon?
we reommend a 210 liter tank per oscar!

www.oscarfishlover.com/how-to-cycle-a-tank
please read this article.
BB will help replace bad toxins with less harmfull ones, but you'll need to do loads of wc the coming weeks to keep your fish alive and happy.

Do you have a test kit for your water?
You're gonna need that !

O, sorry, WATERCHANGES of about say 25% daily to take any upbuilding toxins out of the tank!

What i read on my bottle you can't overdose on that stuff, but if it helps any extra, I really dunno..
For 2 Oscars I'd recommend getting a 450L+ tank.
That with a compatible sized filter should work fine for your bioload.
But there's def no garantee that the couple will work.
If it's 2 males and they start becoming adults, they may bully and/or kill eachother.
But that's no worry for now.
Keeping up with the WC is all you can do to keep your fish happy.
Any possibility of returning one to the shop maybe?
That may give your other fish better chances of survival, cuz a 100Liter tank will be very high maintenance to keep an Oscar healthy!
