I bought some new cartridges for my filter but I didn't soak it in tank water I rinsed it off and put it in like the instructions said and now my water is cloudy. I have a biowheel so I didn't think anything of it as long as I wasnt messing with that but I guess I was wrong. What can I do to avoid this when I change my cartridges.

Don't know much about biowheels but about changing the normal filter cartridges, I usually exchange them in turns, not all at the same time. That is, if they have to be changed at all. Depending on what you're using they can last for years. For cleaning them, it's enough to squeeze them out in some water, preferably from the tank. The brown colour doesn't mean they have to be exchanged. Sorry if you do it like that anyway already, just thought I'd mention it.
If I were a guy, I\'d have probably needed only 30% of the amount of words to say this

I am going to do another water change I just got off work and its not any better. I have a more then enough filtration and the only thing I did was change the cartridges and its funny my feeder fish/quarantine tank never gets changed and I do water changes monthly and it is clear as drinking water. I bought a product that is suppose to clear water in a few hours but we will see how well it works.
