Does anyone know how fast Oscars grow? I know that can be a loaded question with a lot of opinions but some insight would be helpful.

And this question is asked with the assumption that they are in an appropriate size tank with good water conditions and fed a nice variety of food... blood worms, mealworms and pellets.

Thanks and for those celebrating it - Happy Thanksgiving my your turkey be moist!

Happy Thanksgiving to you too!!

And I think the general thought is about an inch a month for the first 10 months or so, then growth slows! Hope this helps

From my experience the Oscars growth rate normally slows down considerably once they reach around 10 inches. The problem is, it's very difficult to measure an Oscar and often people overestimate how big the Oscar actually is. So where as people may think they have got a 12 inch Oscar, it's often only around 10 inches

when i was training for fish cage culture, tilapia and oscar grows at the same rate,
1 inch for every month provided you have a big tank (at 21 liter per inch of fish size),
good filtration, and good feedings.

and yes, when they reach the 10 inches mark, they slow down in length but become
thicker.

pacu, ID sharks, and knife fish grows faster than that.

A way to enhance your Oscars growth is lean trimmed beef heart. Notice I said trimmed, you want to take off all fat other wise it may cause long term health effects. Try a feeding of beef heart once a day. A variety is best and a high quality pellet as a staple, which I saw you mentioned. Try Hikari.
Have a good day

My O grew upto 10 inch in a year and suddenly slowed down the last few months, but he's getting fat and looking more mature every month.
The excesive growth seems indeed to slow down after a year.
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!
