Within the last few days my adult tiger is bent on his side (as if we were doing a side bend or making an S with our bodies). He can still swim but any ideas on what caused this? Its like he broke his back or something. He is also kinda swimming sideways (which I am guessing is from the whole bent thing. I wouldnt think its any kinda sickness because I change water and he also has a tankmate ( they have grown up together and dont fight) which is doing fine

Can you take a photograph? Scoliosis of the spine in fish can often be caused by fish tuberculosis.

Its a bad pic because when I would walk up to the tank he perks up and faces me which makes it hard to really see. Like I said it pretty much happened overnight

From time to time they will pick up a piece and spit it out from what I see. But I think I have seen him poop so wouldnt rocks block that?

Yes, it looks like there is some kind of growth inside the fish, or maybe problems with one of the organs. I think it is in the wrong place for a blocked intestine. The fish also looks extremely skinny.Is the fish eating okay?

He only looks skinny from the angle. He is pretty plump (i would say breed standard) and is eating. I feed cichlid gold

what about catching him feel the lump see if its hard or soft??

I would try feeding the fish peas, if it will accept them. There may be a possibility there is a blockage in the intestine somewhere, but I think this is a little more serious than that. I really haven't got any other suggestions, if it was a dog or cat, you would however it x-rayed straightaway to see exactly what is going on inside, obviously we can't do that with your fish.I think the only thing you can do is see how things go for the next few days. I can't do it at the moment, when I will have a look in my health book tomorrow and see if there are any other suggestions we can come up with.
