Christmas break is coming quickly for my university. I will be away from my apartment for three weeks. I will be able to visit my apartment once per week. So what my question is... Will my oscars and africans be ok with once a week feedings for three weeks? I know fish can go a while without food, but would i risk loosing any if i feed them in this manor? I am particularly worried about my frontosas. They are still pretty young, about 2 inches in length. And they are quite pricey and hard to come by where i live.

Or should i go with the vacation feeders that you just drop in the tank? An auto feeder is basically out of the question due to my bank account running thin.
Thank you in advanced!

once a week feeding time and water maintenance would be fine. a running system
with less feeding will keep the water in balance for while.

No they are not with my oscars. They are in a tank with a couple peacocks and yoyo loaches. They are much too small for my 7 inch oscars. I can only imagine that they would become a quick snack for my oscars!

Your Oscars will be fine IMO, But with your frontosas, I am worried about how young they are yet. I also understand the wallet issue. Is it possible for you to get one auto feeder?

The only way i could do it is if i find a good deal on craigslist. And i have been looking. What do you think about the feeders that dissolve and release food?

actually, if the fronosa is in a separate tank, it will also be fine for once
a week feeding and water maintenance.... but with tankmate...i am not sure
how would they fare for a week.
