TOPIC: Color Change

Color Change 2 years, 5 months ago #63751

Greetings!

As I've said in my introduction page, I have kept Oscar for no more than 2 months. However, they have grown tremendously.

One question though. Since the time of purchase till to date, my 3 baby Oscar seem like they have changed in color. When I got them, they are in healthy black color, however, now seem like they are turning into green! Is this a kind of disease? I bet no, but I just hope to get some advice on how to let my Oscar to grow healthy and with striking bright color instead of greenie looking? Advice anyone?

Thanks and cheerios!

Thanks for all the feedback... Hopefully mine transform into something real nice... Will take some pictures tonight and upload...

Question:
Any chemical or medicine that can 'help' with the transformation? Meaning make the color brighter or something? Or its all depends on the diet and the environment?

pristine water and varied balance foods make the fishes healthy and with vibrant
color. dull or pale color indicates something is wrong in tank or feeding

This is normal, all oscars change as they get older. Good quality food will help bring out the colours in your fish but wont help with the colour change. Hikari cichlid gold is a good food- the pellets are red, i think its the shrimp in it that brings out the red.
