Ok we seem to have members from all over the world and quite a few people who have travelled, so my question is has anyone caught an oscar on a hook and line from the wild. I know oscars are not natural to florida but i would take them as wild?

And if you have can you post some pics

Catching your oscar from your tank DOESNT count even if you live in florida

I haven't caught it myslef - but was travelling in Ecuador and ate a freshly caught O.

Sat down at eatery in a village - asked for the fish, guy walked out on to the deck (on the edge of the river) threw in a line and within 5 mins had a big O. 15 mins later was on my plate..

Tasty
New to the whole Oscars thing..
Setup:
4' x 2' x 2' Tank with 100L Sump filtration

I heard red tiger oscars are not really wild oscars at all. Wild oscars are something different. Maybe that's what is in the pic? DK.... The most common pics of wild oscars seem to look like Red tigers but black and gray. I'm new to this though.

Yes, we were trying to get the big Oscar out of my 300 gallon tank but it was absolutely impossible so I had to get my fishing rod out in the end. Only joking, I think I found that particular photograph on the Internet.

If I saw Oscar at my supermarket then I would definitely get some. There's a big difference between killing your pets, and buying it from a shop where it is being sold as food.

well I am having a great big lemon sole for my dinner tomorrow evening. The benefit of having a brother-in-law who is captain of a trawler.

Sainsbury's which is one of the biggest chains of supermarkets here in the UK often have barramundi on occasions, I tried it once , however I wasn't really that enamoured, I reckon a nice piece of salmon tastes better.
