We don't jump on anyone here for asking questions, however silly, trivial or obvious they may be, so if you want to ask something, or say something, please feel free, as long as it is polite then nobody is going to assassinate you, as you put it.

Oscars are great fish which mix with loads of fish with no problems whatsoever. Personally, I would look at all the fish that live in the Amazon and surrounding waters, in similar places that the Oscars live, a lot of these will make perfect Tankmates for your Oscar as long as you have got the room. If you're going to add other cichlids then always do a little research because the majority of cichlid are semi-aggressive, or aggressive so you always have to be a little cautious when mixing them.

It doesnt matter to an oscar whether there is a tankmate or not but i suppose it would be easier to keep an oscar on his own with no other tankmates as you cant get bullying with only one fish. However lots of people like big tanks and also like more than one fish. Some people humanise (there is a proper word for this but it escapes me) and think an oscar on his own will get lonely but this isnt true

Piranhas dont make good tankmates with oscar for obvious reasons

Pacu dont make good tankmates unless you have a massive tank because they get so big
I can't get no sleep
