any size is ok. if the fish can eat it then you don't have a problem. it may be worth killing the worm 1st as they can bite inside the fish. its not a major problem but can irritate the fish. i would try and see. with oscars i think you would be fine to just throw them in. What you feed the worms is what your fish eat so add prawn or fish pellets to the worms for food and this will end inside your fish too.)

meal worm just come in a box of different size. look for the lighter colour. you will notice some look browner than others. the older and tougher the worm the browner it will be. if you have the beetle in there too throw them to the fish too, they will eat them.

yes you just drop a few fish pellets in and the worm will eat this. you can drop a bit of carrot in too as the worm will drink water from this and give your fish more vitamins.

The LFS we go to has 3 sizes of mealworms. We started with the small ones, quickly moved to the medium ones and are considering the "giant" ones next time! Mine love them but they only get the mealworms at that feeding. I don't mix up their food at feedings but I do rotate through mealworms, bloodworms, shrimp and pellets. Feeders are rare since they are only 4"... plus I have a nice stock of the other stuff!

biggest are called morios and are the larvae of the darkling beetle.

My oscar didn't like them when he was smaller for they're pretty hardbodied.
But nowadays he likes those as well.

Meal worms are a good choice to add variety. If you are going to utilize them regularly, you could try breeding your own. It's pretty simple. A 10-40 gallon plastic container(with a lid). Poke holes in the lid. Cover the bottom with atleast 2 inches of oat meal. One half of an apple sliced and a small wet sponge. Put the lid on and store in a warm location. Add 5-10 meal worms and rewet the sponge once in a while and you'll have dozens of meal worms in no time(2 weeks). You may even get some of the matured beetles, oscars love them as well.
