Good Pics!!! Let me start by saying Hi and Welcome!

now yes that looks like the beginning of HITH.

How big is your tank? What filter(s) are you running and what are your water parameters for Ammonia, nitrite and nitrate?

welcome.
some more questions, how much water do you change and how often?
Do use use any carbon in your filters ?
Please answer these questions, and I'm sure we can pinpoint the problem for you.
Nice to see you around.

On the lower jaw for example you see white lil' scoops out of the skin of the O.
HITH looks like someone took a icespoon and scooped out tiny portions.
Above and around the eye you see the space between the sensorypits is getting affected too.
This may be clearer, this is my own fish:

around the eye you see tiny pinpricks.
Those are the sensorypits and are perfectly normal.
Right above the eye you can see a bigger hole, and it kinda looks like he bumped into something. That's what the beginning of HITH looks like and these leisions will spread throughout the fish.

if your waterquality is pristine, and a varied diet is given beginning HITH should heal pretty quick.
In the beginning I thought , that those sensory pits was HITH, so then I'm a retard too!lol

Sorry it took me so long to get back, these holidays are too hectic. Thanks everybody for the help. Ok heres the answers to the questions. I have a 75 gal. with two oscars(they are still juveniles) and a pleco. For filtration I run a fluval 305, Bio wheel Emporer 280, and a Marineland Penguin 100, all of which I do run carbon in, please advise if I need more filtration because I will go buy more immediately. I know I will get scolded for this, and maybe this is my problem i dont know, but for my biological I run an undergravel with 2 large aqua clear powerheads running in REVERSE, so they push water up through the gravel and not suck all the crap into the gravel. I also run two powerheads connected to air for aeration. I change 30-40% of the water weekly religiously. My current parameters are ammonia under .02 ppm, nitrate 20 ppm, nitrite 0 ppm, ph 8, gh 180 ppm, kh 240 ppm, all of these parameters are from the tank right now, it has been exactly 5 days since the last 30% water change. Also, I feed cichlid bio gold, freeze dried krill, cichlid sticks, freeze dried meal worms, and just this week I started soaking the bio gold in liquid vitamin which I plan on doing about twice weekly, also I feed NO feeders what so ever. Thank you everyone for your help it is greatly appreciated. These oscars are very important to me and I'm not just one of those guys who abuses the fish and wonders why they are sick. Again, thank you for the help. Also, water is kept at 78-79 degrees.

I agree with above, keep your water quality where it needs to be, AND REMOVE ALL CARBON!!! Your HITH should clear quickly!

Re:Is This HITH? 2 years, 4 months ago #68943

UPDATE. I was reading posts and began to realize that many people hate carbon so I went to the pet store and got more biomax and prefilter for my fluval as well as a Marineland H.O.T. magnum filter to replace the penguin 100. So the only carbon left in my tank is what is in the Emporer 280 filter cartridge, which shouldnt be enough to hurt anything. So to wrap it up, my filtration now consists of a fluval 305 with their 'prefilter' and biomax in the trays as well as the standard foam strips (no more carbon), a marineland H.O.T Magnum 250, with blue floss media only and NO carbon, and a Marineland Emporer 280 with standard cartridge (just a little bit of carbon), I guess if you guys recommend I could cut the carbon out of those cartridges. I also did a 30-40% right before I installed the new filter. So as far as filtration goes, I should be set. As for the oscar, I hope I caught this in time because he hasn't lost any appetite or energy at all and acts completely normal and I have seen no HITH symptoms on the albino at all. Thanks again for the help everyone. Happy New Years Eve.... and New Year and hope to talk to you soon.

You can use the plastic scrubbies from the dollar store instead of the filter inserts on your Emporer filter. I will post a picture of the scrubbies I am talking about. No carbon and they last forever!!! When they are dirty you remove and squeeze them a few times in a bucket of tank water, then put them back!

Here is the pic!
