I normally feed my oscars superworms. Sometimes I chop bananas to small pieces and feed it to them. Is that ok? Do bananas have anything bad for the oscars?
When I'm good, I'm very good.. When I'm bad, I'm f*ckin' better.

nope, i know lots of members feed fruit to their O's.
Nothing wrong with that, imo.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but are there anything in bannanas that stand out than any other food? Like my oscars eat mealworms on a regular basis, they're high in protein and they hate their pellets now. I give them crickets here and there. What I'm trying to say is, what nutrients are in bannanas that are benificial to my fish? I know some pellets/flake food have "fish color enhancer" or so they claim. This is the first time I've ever heard of feeding an oscar a bananna.

actually, bananas and fruit in general are part of the natural feeding pattern of oscars.(pellets are not, btw )
I think in the wild 60 % of their food consists of insects, worms and larvae that fall off trees.
In addition they will eat fruit for it's very common to find it in their environment.

They will def use the vitamins that are in the fruit.Don't know about other nutrients, though.

in the wild, banana is being carried by flash floods to the river, thus,
it is possible that fishes feast on them when ripe. i believe it will be
just fine.... i used to toss banana bits inside my tank whenever i am eating
one.
