Just feed them the same as you would pellets, they will love them. They do not need to be refrigerated. After a week or so, they will start turning into little black beetles, Oscars also love these.

Mealworms are good in the fridge for quite sometime. I have four oscars and a green terror that I feed, they are still babys (probally 3 inches max) but they eat 2 before the go back the the bottom to chill out, sometimes 3. That's my personaly experience with mealies, not sure if this helps any?

Hi, there, Jedohara.
It kinda depends on the weather.
If room temp is not to warm you can keep them outside the fridge.
I do so, and my O finishes the box in a week or two.
Within that time hardly any worms turn into pupae.
If your room temp is warm, it's better to keep them in the fridge, or you'll have bugs in no time. (your o won't mind, though. )
Not feeding the mealworms will make the turning proces into pupae slow down.

On the amount, you just have to try.
I give my one year old O 10 worms at a time and just continue until he's had enough.
I did use the 3 minute rule when my O was smaller, but nowadays he more quickly satisfied and 3 minutes is way too long now.

Just ask the missus before you put anything like that in the fridge

Dont forget you need to feed a variety of foods so try not to feed them mealworms everyday. If this means you dont use all the mealworms in time you could try freezing them. I have never fed live mealworms so I cant say if they will freeze but i dont see why not.

Asking permission before putting them in the fridge is a very good idea. When i first started buying maggots i asked my girlfriend if i could keep them in the fridge. She said if i keep maggots in the fridge she is leaving. I explained that they were in a sealed box but she was having none of it. As my fish come first she is now GONE!!! Only joking the maggots live in the shed but they dont last long

me and my dad went on a fishingtrip and put the leftover maggots in the fridge.
We didn't close the lid of the box.
I can say my mother was pretty pleased with the 2 of us...
it took her several hours to get the several 100's of maggots out of every corner of the fridge!
