I have a 42gallon tank that has been cycled properly and has been up and running for about 6 months now.
It is currently filtered by 2 Powerfilters and one tetratec filter.
The litre per hour is about 1600.
The tank has a few rocks and plants and a overhead light.

Extremely sorry I was talking to my mum while typing so I missed the actual question out, Silly me!

Would ONE Oscar on its own be ok in this environmental?

Welcome to our little community

And your question is?

lOL, ok to answer that question, no that tank isn't big enough... Oscars get HUGE, (I have one that measures 14 inches)

you need a MINIMUM of 55 gallons, and we prefer 75 gallons.

but the tank you have would make a great african tank, with a few rocks added.

Unfortunately not, you're well over 10 gallons short of the absolute minimum that people suggest for just one adult Oscar. Why not consider some smaller cichlid if you cannot get a bigger tank, maybe Jack Dempsey?

Not the best start ey? Lol

I haven't got any Oscars yet or anything. I wanted to research first so it would be happy.
What fish would you recommend for a African type tank?

The fish i was looking at so far are, Severum, Festivum ( Maybe spelt wrong? ), Green Terror or JD.

There would only be one in the tank

But i also have a tank full of Africa/ Malawi Cichlids and they are AWESOME!!!

Most of the cichlid you just mentioned are South American. I would be looking at cichlid that they reached 12 inches. Jack Dempsey is a great looking fish, you'll probably be okay with your size tank because they probably average about 8 inches whereas the other fishy mansions can get to 12 inches and would probably need a bigger tank

What is a JD like attitude-wise?
I might look into buying one!

I also read that most African Cichild need a 55gallon tank too, Which species would thrive in my tank?

I had about 10 different Malawi Cichlids in a 35, and they did Beautifully.

my JD, is very pretty but I have to say, she hides quite a bit... they are nothing like an Oscar.

if you want to go south/central american- you could do a bolivian ram; i've never kept them but they're pretty small - maybe worth researching
