I have 4 baby oscars and then all get along very well... wherever the biggest oscar goes all the others follow.. but thats besides the point... there in a 35 gal. tank..(dont worry its temporary, i know they need a much larger one) and they love it, there very active and just love the rock cave i made for them... they love worms and backing up the theory that states how oscars eyes are bigger than their stomach we see that when they have a worm twice the size of their body hanging out of their mouth. The only other thing they eat is feeder fish but they eat those so quickly i would have to be going every day just to keep them happy.. i have been advised to use pellets but they just wont eat them.. any comments or advice on how i could convince them that pellets would be heathy to both them and my wallet

They have obviously got themselves hooked on feeder fish. Whereas I wouldn't like to withdraw troops from babies for too long, you could try stopping food for a couple of days and then try some pellets and see what happens. Alternatively, get some prawns/shrimp/kril from the fish store, I've never known an Oscar not to like these.

I did wait a couple days and no luck... the only one that will even look at the pellets is the brown one. i have a complete brown one, one completly black one and 2 albino oscars (there not completly white but ive been told there still concidered albino) .. you can practicly see the brown one growing and hes definitly the leader of the group ... if it were up to me i would only have the 2 oscars.. but i took the other two from my friend because he didnt have a big enoug tank.. it was just sad... but i got another question, is their any way to make them more lively during the day.. they go crazy when its dark or dim but when its light they just calmly swim around....

giving them earthworms or any worms is good but you have to watch out on
water parameters...considering that your tank is not big enough, any missed
water change can trigger health issue... exposure to toxin....
giving them varied foods particularly the formulated one will make sure
they can get enough nutrition needed on a day to day basis. so keep on trying
to give them another foods...pellets in particular.

JJR ... had to do that exact thing with mine. They wouldn't touch anything but feeders and worms. Neither of which they should be eating regularly. They went 5 days before they touched a pellet!! Twice a day I would drop 2 pellets in the tank - one per fish. They turned their noses up at them. I'd fish them out after about 1/2 an hour. Finally on day 5, one of them ate a single pellet. Day 6.. a miracle.. they both ate pellets... A LOT OF PELLETS!! Now they get fed twice a day.. morning feeding is either blood worms or shrimp (frozen).. evening feeding is always pellets. I now have no problems with them eating them!
Yea.. they know whose the boss now !! (Yea right )

I agree!!! When the finances come down to it, All I have is pellets for my babies, which I then buy Tetra's large version pretty cheap at Wal-Mart. But, I love, and I ALWAYS will love giving them different/a variety of foods to taste!!! Hey, Homer Simpson loves pork chops, and so do my "O's"!!! I buy them lean, cook 'em, and serve!! I know it's just a treat, but they, "Ollie & Olivia" love it!! Again, the best is in the summer when I catch crayfish from the Milwaukee river and feed them "endless 'Lobster'" Even buying the leanest ground beef usually ties them over until I can afford the right food. Just like the "River dogs" that they truely are, I love catching and/or feeding my babies whatever they'll eat!! Soaking some mealworms or waxworms in the liquid vitamins that I give to my rodents even works and my babies are TOTALLY HEALTHY!! I JUST WISH THAT THEY'D MATE ALREADY! Can I really "pet" them? This seems dangerous.

I know, "wally-world" can be cheap for many of things, but, please, PLEASE, seek out other alternatives!! My local Wal-Mart stopped selling nightcrawlers until spring!! I just found on-line, a night crawler dealer that looks really good, I've just got to order in quantity! I don't mind cause my bottom shelf of my refrig. is for my fish only, (against my fiancee's wishes!), and my waxworms DON'T have to be refrig'd!!! I tell you what, though, my local hardware store has minnows, all kinds of worms, and even fish eggs!!! ALL of which go through my "screening" before I give them to "Ollie & Olivia"!!! I love, no, I LOVE my fish and ALL of my critters!! Just look online until you are satisfied to get your "treat" for your babies!!!!

Real cheap and my O loves them, every day.
Last week i threw in aa couple of pellets with the worms and my O took them.
but he spit only the pellets out and ate the worms.
