I am unsure whether or not Canadian gallons are the same as US gallons. If they are, a 55 gallon Canadian tank will be approximately 45.8 gallons UK, a little bit smaller. So, in my opinion, you should be looking for around 70 gallons because I always go by UK gallons, not US gallons when it comes to advising people on tank size

You are correct, it is too small. If I was you, I would keep an eye on the water conditions, they will go downhill rapidly in a small tank like that. Make sure you check ammonia nitrite and nitrate.
