just a quick question regarding the oscar and its owner.

Are any of u's oscars so tame that they cum to the top for a head rub.

mine has become so tame that when i stick my hand in the tank they all come for a quick rub and carry on with their normal behaviour.

Its like hey know to be nice to the hand that feeds them.

I just wanted to know what kind of relasionship all of u hv with yr o's

regards

The Oscars I had before would let you touch them to a certain extent, I wouldn't say they would come to the top for a head rub.

I used to be able to rub my albino (unfortunately he died) on his underside, he would swim around but wouldnt run off. I suspect your oscar recognizes you and your hand so isnt scared. He may associate it with food. He might even enjoy it. Have fun with him

Oscars are very smart and can be trained to do things. There is a video on u-tube of an oscar that has been trained to swim thro a hoop. When he swims thro the hoop he gets fed

all my fish do that ( i spend lots of time playing with my fish..
i put sinking pellets in my hand and put my hand in the tank and they all come right over and eat out of my hand. and ill pet them with my other hand...

when im cleaning my tank they all come right over n follow me around as im cleaning the tank and they will swim back n forth rubbing against me..

i took a ping pong ball and put a small hole in it nd filled it with enough water so it will sink but still be able to float around a little bit in the tank.. i used a little silicone to seal up the hole after i filled it up.. they play with it ALOTT..

even my lil clown loaches will swim to the top of the tank to play with me.. its pretty much the only time the clows come to the top of the tank..

i love my fish... i cant wait to get the new tanks i been looking at.. another year or soo my apartment will be wall to wall fish tanks lol..

Ack, my Oscar is odd apparently. Only way of me touching him is my finger in his mouth, at least when he has a bad day. He doesn't like to be touched, which at least helps with pushing him outta the way when I have to do something in the tank.

I tried a floating ping pong ball once, and he seemed really annoyed at that thing and pushed it into a corner behind some plants eventually to stay there. Some weeks later I found it there again, had forgotten about it, but thought I could try again. When he saw it floating in the middle of the tank, the first thing was swimming into the corner where it had been and looking around there, then swimming to the ping pong ball and pushing it right back into that corner. I found it very amazing that he seemed to know exactly where he had pushed it weeks ago, lol.
If I were a guy, I\'d have probably needed only 30% of the amount of words to say this

Both my Tiger Oscar and Red will jump out of the water
to take pellets from my hand. My two albino tigers won't
even try for whatever reason. I do spend a lot of time near
the tank which is in my office. They do seem to recognize me and when I put my hand in the tank they will swim up and sometimes rub against my hand. So I can see them being tamed and even trained if someone has that kind of time. Just my thoughts.

The only time I ever put my hands in the water is when I am cleaning the tank and they do seem pretty curious and investigate my hand and vac but during feeding I wouldn't even try with mine they are so excited they try to eat anything within an inch of the surface of the water and do not hesitate to jump out to get it! I do have 3 new babies maybe ill try to get them to let me touch them. If i sit with my hand in the water for 5 minutes then 10 and so on maybe in time they just wont care.

Mine used to gently grab krill from my fingertips ... now it is shrimp. I made the mistake of giving it fresh shrimp and now it turns its nose at krill most times It still grabs it nice when it is hungry enough, and grabs the shrimp when I occasionally feel like giving some. I have some frozen, but I usually don't feel like thawing it, and since I am a vegetarian (only dairy, fruits, veggies, no eggs), I don't keep or buy anything like that very often.

Mine is very attentive to me most of the time. It is also doesn't care for any activity in its tank ... scraping glass will put it in the bottom corner immediately (its safe spot). Just getting the bucket and Python out, it quickly heads for the safe spot Though, for the first time, when the tank was refilling, he(she?) went up to it with a bit of anger for a moment

I have gently touched my O a few times, but, I think it will be easier once it gets a bit older.

only had my oscars a few days now and the three babies let me give them a head rub and take food out of my hand and nibbling my fingers. it's great to watch because one of them is braver than the other two and if he takes food out of my hand the others will do the same after. The older one is still really shy but he comes up to my hand but he backs away a bit and then comes back. Whenever I walk in the room they swim up to 'greet me' and they don't do that when anyone else walks in x
