I decided to look carefully at the ingrediants of different fish foods to see if they possibly used Ethoxyquin. I only know about this chemical from my parrot experience. Many companies use this cheaper method of preserving their animal food (cat, dog, bird, fish, etc.) and it is actually toxic and harmful.

I was only able to find a few companies that did not use Ethoxyquin:
Hikari
Aqueon
Red Sea

Ones that do:
Omega Sea
Kent Marine
Wardley
Nutrafin
Tetra
New Life
Boyd
O.S.I
Ocean Nutrition
Aquarium Pharmaceuticals
That Fish Place Brand

Letter to the FDA regarding Ethoxyquin for more info--

What food do you use?

I almost use only Hikari. I have come to trust their product, and this reinforces it. Vitamins added to just about everything they make. When the pet food recall happened, they were not part of it, unlike some other brands, one of which I had been feeding to my O (Oscar Grow).

I will have to check the frozen bloodworms I just bought since the pet store was out of hikari, so I got a different brand.

I am suprised at a couple on that list though

Kenshin_Himura,

I think your ok with the frozen items, because they don't have to use as much/ if any preservatives when the product is frozen. I looked at a couple of the company's (on the "don't" list) that produced the frozen items and ethoxyquin was not used.
