We have had our Oscar "Hobbs" for a little over 2 yrs, he (I dunno if it's a he for sure or not, but I'm stickin with he.) is extremely social, moody, full of personality and attitude and is loved to death by us.

He is on a diet of mostly meal worms, he will eat some dry but he does not like it. We have just recently purchased a boat and would like to be able to go for a week at a time on it, (it's moored 5 hours from us on the coast in Vancouver, BC) but we have feeding concerns.

We are looking for suggestions to handle the feeding issues over this type of time-frame. We can do a water change, filter change etc. in the few days leading up to going, but feeding is our biggest hurdle.

What about one of those automatic feeders? Here's a link to some different ones:

Don't know anything about them, but I'm sure it could work.

I have never used those feeders but i dont see why they wont work

An oscar will be fine if left for a week without food but he will be very very very hungry when you get back

When i go away i get someone else to feed them, i measure out the food ready for them (if you dont do this the person feeding will overfeed them with a quote like 'they ate it all real quick and still seemed hungry so i fed them more'). You dont have to get them to do it everyday, every other day or every 3 days will be fine

Do some extra water changes before you go away. This will reduce the chances of problems occurring when you are away and if they do occur the better water quality will hopefully help your oscar to deal with them until you get back
I can't get no sleep
