My neighbors came over,
And before I could do anything they had set there kids up in my tank room to do some drawing. Imagine my shock when I checked up on them and found em' slapping the glass, pulling faces at the fish and pulling the cables behind the tank!
The next day my SDs were eating fine, but the oscar has been on and off his food for 3 days, any ideas how to get him back to normal, other than permanently keeping kids out unless im' there?

I got kids myself and i try to teach the not to bash the glass, but they still do sometimes.
And my fish spook then, but never go off their food...
I got a good idea for you, next time the kids come over:
That'll teach them to mess with the fish!

Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!

Hi Paul ,
all the parrameters were 0 except the nitrate which was 20, I think the lil' bastards freaked him out that much he doesn't trust people any more, I thought about getting another fish his size, to bring him out of his shell but another O that size [11-12''] would be asking for trouble, same with a devil/midas, possibly a severum? my LFS has a pretty solid sev about the same size as my O, do you think they could get on together?

Great idea Noddy, but you forgot a 240v cable connected to the gate, and a shipping sticker sending it to the Nike factory, so he can earn his keep!

Your water is fine so he should recover and be back to his normal self. Keep anyone (especially rug rats) who bangs/slaps the tank away from the it. Fish have a way of detecting movement and when you bang the tank it makes them think there is a big fish nearby, thats why they dont like it

I agree with you they should be kept away, but these kids never caused trouble before they had been put in there before I knew it,
Luckily the O's eating like usuall, but will now only eat in the dark, try feeding him in the light and he flops over onto his side and plays dead! quite sad really.
I think I may borrow one of my friends 3ft black Pacu's and set him up in a tank that says reach in and grab your prize, kids only!
