I just got myself an albino tiger oscar and was wondering how come they are cheaper than the regular one by almost 2/3. Aren't they rarer?

I've never thought of albino Oscar as being rare. Personally I don't like them. Maybe the shop was selling them before at a higher price but nobody bought them so they have dropped the price.

i guess that could be a possibility

Maybe they got a cheap deal on them, or as OFL says they didnt sell and want to get rid of them. Do they look healthy?

i guess it depends on where you are. here lutino are twice the price of reds or tigers and are always the first to be sold out.

I live in the northwest of the continent.
But there were tons of Red and Tiger Red Oscars and about equal amounts of albino ones.
I even asked the salesperson and he didn't know why they were cheaper.

But the little guy is lively and well. Very eager to eat and comes up to the surface pretty much as soon as I'm about 10' away. Very interesting little guy so far!

i like the albino oscars but they are twice the price of tigers and reds i brought mine as a tiger and it turned out 2 be a red LOL

this two lutino cost me 30 cents each when i got them at 2 inches long.
unfortunately, i lost both of them when we were hit with long power
outage.

Round my way albinos are either the same or slightly more expensive than reds/tigers

Here in the Philippines....oscars are priced the same...they only vary in the size. I love my albino tiger....he's like a puppy. Always wanting attention. LOL
