i came home today to see one of my juvinile oscars with a split fin.

nitrite=0

nitrate= 10

there are two together

does anyone no why this is \

is it really bad or minor

how split is it - all the way to the body? can he use it?

it's probably nothing to worry about - they heal very, very fast. they also tend to be clumsy, so small injuries seem to be common

yes he semes fine
its just hi tail fin has like a gap,
like in between some people front teeth.

probably just a nip from the other fish - nothing at all to worry about. it will heal up.

keep an eye out for aggression issues as they get older

mine had a split fin due to aggression of another big cichlid.
The filaments between the ribs healed within days.
The rib itself has grown allmost back completely within 6 weeks.
Mind you i rehomed the bully to make sure it wouldn't happen again
