wow that seems like so much, 20 mealworms for just one session of food.
i feed mine equevalent to about 10 a day. this must be wrong, they still grow at a fastish rate but not nearly as fast as some peoples o's i hear about on hear.
should i be feeding them more

regardless of the pellet size, you have to observe the 3 minutes rule,
feed whatever they can consume in 3 minutes, and remove the uneaten foods,
the logic there is that whatever food left behind will be additional bioloads.
when still juvenile, feeding 3X a day is fine but same rule applies or else
you will be prone to water problems.

it sounds like you are over feeding your oscars. 20 meal worms for a single meal?? I've been feeding my oscars mini hikari pellets & a cube of frozen bloodworms twice a day & they have still grown really quick. just because they complete it in the 2-3minutes it doesn't mean you should maintain the same amount of food. that's just my opinion though...i'm sure the experts here will provide better advice.

If the mealworms are the same size as the ones i use, 20 worms should be enough.
The Oscar will digest those worms pretty easily although he's still small.
The same amount of pellets may be a bit much for your juvi.
If my One year old O eats the worms 20 will be gone in some seconds.
I feed the food bit by bit, just toss in a couple of worms or pellets and see if the Oscar eats them. Repeat that sequence until the 3 minutes have passed.
My O is usually full within less than 3 minutes.

I whould try half that if you go medium.
It all depends dude but if you think its to much it prob is..lol
mine whould eat till they die so cant go off weather they are full or not.
mine are bout 8inches not to sure and i throw in bout 6-7 large at a time and let them eat those then do this bout 4-5 times over the 2-3mins.

of the 6-7 large they suck most up on the first go and the rest b4 they hit the bottom dude. I dont chuckem in all at once.
once you see bits coming out their gills or they start getn heaps messy thats heaps prob bit to much..lol

While you still have some of the small pellets left and your fish is eating them then keep feeding them until you run out and then buy the size you think your oscar can eat.
I can't get no sleep
