Hey again.

I wanted to get some thoughts on what i've been doing and ifs its safe.

I have a Pleco,a Jack Dempsey and another fish im not sure what it is.Its small, fast and doesnt seem to be bothered with the oscar or the JD.(He eats regular Goldfish flakes)

Anyways,Ive been buying Golfish and guppies for my oscar and JD,and they seem happy and satisfied with their diet.Alot of people on here say its healthier to give them pellets and stuff. All that seems a bit boring, and Oscars usually feed on live fish in the wild and thats the way i like to keep it.I've had my oscar for about 2 months and i have been feeding his Goldfish and guppies.(He also eats goldfish flakes haha) He seems perfectly healthy and has no problems that i can see.

I usually buy a dozen goldfish and a dozen guppies and put them in the tank all at once, and let him grab what he wants.I also hand feed him goldfish and its pretty cool.I dangle the goldfish about 2 inches above the water and he will jump and grab it from my fingers, its pretty cool.

I check the levels of the water and everything seems perfect and well.

I also wanted to know if giving the Oscar crickets is healthy, also.

Let me know,thanks

From what I've heard, crickets are very good. Personally thinking way better and safer than feeder fish but guess that's not what you like to hear A varied diet is probably best, check out the article on Oscar Food on this website.
If I were a guy, I\'d have probably needed only 30% of the amount of words to say this

Iv had my 2 for a week and i now what you mean there cool little predators there great to watch. I sit there for hours and give my housemates running commentary on thier every move

Today i fed them fish for the first time. I only bought 2, 1 each. (there only an occasional treat until i breed my own).

The first one was funny. He was so scared that he actually managed to jump out of the tank to get away from Tiger and landed on the glass top. I nudged him back in and Tiger swallowed him hole as soon as he hit the waters surface

The other one seemed to fast for Rocky, my still unfed O. He managed to hide and dodge for about 20 minutes. Just as i was telling my housemate that this ones fast it might end up living in the tank for good, i looked back over at the tank and its tail was hanging out Rocky's mouth Lol !

good times

Crickets, earthworm, bloodworms & locusts ist the way to go.

to many goldfish are not good at all they coz yr fish to end up with fatty liver problems.later in their lives.

also feed live food once a week and pellets and veggies the rest of the week.if u spoil theO's with to much live food they are going stop eating everything else and if for sum reason u can get hold of live stuff then u will be stuck wif oscars that dont wanna eat.

guppies ok if u quarintene them first.
DONT BUY ON IMPULSE DO SUM HOMEWORK FIRST

I wouldnt encourage oscars to jump for food. It has been mentioned on here several times about oscars jumping out of tanks and some have died because of it
