Noticed today that one of my O's has funny looking poop...it looks like normal poop but with white stringy parts connecting the normal looking parts...should I be worried or could this be from stress from coming home? If it does look like its something to worry about what do I need to do to correct it? Here are some pictures...not the best but at least you can see the poop so you know kind of what i'm referring to. Oh and water parameters:

pH- 7.9
Ammonia- 0
Nitrite- 0
Nitrate- 20
Temp- 79.7

Im no specialist on this kind of thing but i think its constipation it happened with my oscars and all i did was not feed them for a couple of days and it sorted itself out.

I know I did try feeding them the Hikari mini sized pellets and they ate them but seemed to have a hard time crushing them up...maybe its constipation from that? I've switched to TetraCichlid mini granules for now since they can eat them a little better...will go back to the hikari mini's once they are crushing them a little better.

I was just worried it might be an internal parasite or something...

So am I just worrying too much then? Or could it be something bad?

Not that I have all the experiance in the world, but I don't think it's any thing to worry about.. Your water conditions are good.. Just don't let those beggers force you to feed too often. And when they are small I would stick to an established diet and not try anything crazy.. Just My Opinion.

If the poo has the same colour as the food, it's nothing to worry about.
Mine used to eat some many cichlid pellets, they'd come out undigested.

Ok...thanks...the poop now is white and stringy so i'm a little worried. I'll check again when I get home tonight from work and see if its any better. Should I skip their night feeding and let their guts clear out a little?

I didn't, but that could be a parasite infection.

Ok...I just got home from work and the one oscar's poop still doesn't look right. It is still all white and stringy hanging behind him Should I get some meds for it or just keep an eye on things? Also should I skip the night time feeding right now then since it still isn't looking normal?

Ryan, I would feed as normal. is it all white and stringy? could it be what you have fed him?

I know I tried to cure internals on some Africans and it not easy to do... And it takes a lot of meds. So if you do treat, maybe use a hospital tank??

Yeah its all stringy and white...have been mainly feeding the Tetra mini granule pellets right now but did feed some brine shrimp/blood worm the other day but nothing that would look this color really.
