Just introduced a 10cm oscar to an existing tank containing the same sized black belt.
Black belt was agressive toward the O' immediatly, so distracted him with some food. seemed to do the trick. Day later they both seemed settled and are getting on well. What can be done to prevent this in future.

welcome to OFL.
Usually if you move around your decoration a bit before introducing the new fish, could help a bit.
Keep a close eye on them, for aggression issues may still come.
For me the combo Vieja and Oscar went wrong and my O got beat up by the Vieja.
I had to rehome her. But with me both were 10" and the Vieja came last.
I'd love to see some pics, black belts are pretty.

I thought for some time i trained my Vieja not to bully my O and it worked fine for half a jear.
I threatened to net her once and after that only showing the net would make her back up.
But in the end she only behaved when i was around...
What's your stocking and how big is the tank?

OK.
That tank is gonna get pretty full given time and food.
My Vieja ate twice as much as my Oscar, and he allready eats a lot.
Both were still young but passed the 10" real quickly and both kept growing fast.
Are you planning to upgrade eventually?

Wow!
that black belt is sweet, but i must say he is surpassed by the beauty of your tiger.
This is some nice specimen with incredible colour and markings!
I'm in love!

Now let me get some tissues, i drooled all over my keyboard.
btw i took the liberty to copy your pic into my other oscars photobucket album, hope you don't mind!
Just so i can drool some more!

My sysnphilum will not tolerate an oscar at all, he even keeps my jag in check. hopefully you will have more luck with yours, all fish are different and some are more aggressive than others
I can't get no sleep
