how many feeders should i put in tank with him? and how often is it ok to give him feeders.

how often should i feed him i do it once a day but everytime im near tank he gts excited and swims by the lid lol also he constanly looking for food on the bottom lol

feeders provide little to no nutritional value for your fish. personally i dont feed them to my cichlids at all so i guess from my point of view never is a amount of times to feed them to the oscars.
in the wild most of an oscars food comes from insects and ivertibrates. on occasion they do eat smaller fish that might venture to close but they are not the predators that people think. they are oppertunistic feeders.

feeders r not the worst thing... over time they cant shorten the life of your fish, but i like to watch my fish be mean every now and again. i ask the same thing not to long ago, and the ofl crew doesnt realt like feeders but, i still use them along with crickets, super worms, fishing worms, and doritos

if u r wanting to feed feeder fish do so sparingly as like necro said they is very little in them that si good for yr fish..
i personally dont but know lots of ppl who give the occasional feeder.

My O is not interested in chasing smaller fish.
He eats guppies like they're M&M's, but only if they swim into his mouth.
Feeders are not his thing.
He won't even eat the frozen feeders i feed my gar.

thanks for the info lol mine seems to chase them like crazy when i put one in lol he seems to lke the hunt and chasing them down he dont lie there and wait for them he chases them lol. just so clear feeders are a treat to him not reg food he get a feeder once a week o once every 2 weeks. he lives of chilid pellets and blood worms as a treat too.

how about doritos or pancakes... i like to us bloodworms too

PLEASE, listen to someone who has learned a very hard lesson. I have two beautiful O's they are 3 years old and are almost 12". I gave them feeders and one of them, Nemo has been extremely ill since then. PLEASE don't do it. I have been struggling with him for 3 weeks now trying to make sure he recovers. It is painful to see him suffer. DON'T do it please for your O's sake. I learned the hard way.

may we know why you gonna give it feeders? it is a treat or for
feeding purposes..... whenever my wife dump the guppies inside
my tank for her arowana, the feeders stays in the tank for a week
since i regularly feed them with shrimp and/or pellets. if i did
not feed them, feeders will be be gone in a few days.

when you say superworms, are you talking about earthworms and where do you get them?

yes if u really really wanna giv feeders do so very rarely as a treat/bit of enrichment but base yr main diet for fish on pellets etc
