Herman is my 9 1/2 inch oscar and his favorite toy is a golf ball. i tried the ping pong ball but he was actrully afraid of it. He chases (the golf ball) around and bites at it ( quiet hilarious). Ive found he is so amused by the golf ball, that he leaves the dwarf hairgrass alone ( his only live plant.) thought this might help anyone else with a bored oscar that likes to chase its plecos.

Welcome to the site.

I have a ping pong ball in with my O I put holes in it so it would sink he just loves pushing it all over the tank. He even bounces it off of other objects in the tank (unintentially I'm sure). It's too funny when it bounces back and hits him in the head. When this happens he really goes at it and gives that nasty ball a real work over.

Oscars dont need toys. They are quiet happy on their own. When they chase the golf ball its cause he dont like it where it is. Whether its good for them is up for debate. I personally dont bother but then mine have others to chase if they want

Lol, funny thing.

I tend to agree with Delboy, not thinking they really play, but they sure like to investigate things, so why not as long as the toys are Oscar safe.

Love that name, Herman! Oh and welcome to OFL!
If I were a guy, I\'d have probably needed only 30% of the amount of words to say this

im with dellboy i think hes not keen on the ball so tries to show it whos boss

mine dont like anything in there tank so its empty at the min till i find somthing i can do to make it look nice.

they tend to chase each other now and again or swin around doing flips and that. rest of time lookin at themselfs in the relction on the glass or watchin me.
just put a dark blue gradient backround on the tank as they seem intrested in going from the dark(bottom) to the light (top) then back down
