hi all, have not been on forum for a while hope every one is fine, but the white spot which we thought ozzy had has got worse in the last 10 days ,we had been treating the white spot on his actual eyes and we kept his water good then we had to go on holiday for my 40th in egypt (fantastic fish over there)and on our return ozzy now has hole in the head which was diognosed by our local aq shop he also has cloudy eyes which are now poping out of his head ,we checked the water and it is fine even though its has not been changed for 2 weeks ,but we did a 50% water change any way we have also moved the tank into our main big living room just in case he is feeling lonely ,we have been feeding him his fav food prawns and gold pellets gave him earth worm this morning he looked at it for 15mins then thank god ate it,is there anything more we can do , we did put in octozin disolving tablets last night but he is lying on the floor of the tank on a list now not sure he can see much through his eyes now because they are covered by that cloudy thing help , we have gone through the forum but we think direct input from all u guys will be best

Hope you had a good birthday, we did post a goodwill message to you obviously you weren't around at the time. Anyway, sorry to hear about Ozzy, that really does suck. Now, I just cannot understand why this is happening if indeed your water is in good condition. Can you please post your water parameters so we can see. If they all check out perfectly okay that I really don't know what to suggest because normally HITH, cloudy eyes would be caused by an unsuitable diet or poor water conditions. Could you please post some photographs? Octozin is a medication that can treat various ailments such as hith, however I really don't know how effective it is. It is quite expensive and I think you need to dose the tank for five days, or maybe three, I can't remember.

Please post your water conditions for us. It could be a good idea to get some vitamins. You can get it in liquid form and may be soak some blood worm and it's for an hour or so, this may help. Is your fish eating?

Check this link, have a look through the various medications and descriptions, it may be an idea to get the appropriate medication and if indeed your water is in good condition, treat your tank and see if it helps.

You have very good water conditions which is very odd since all the symptoms you described are related to poor water conditions in most cases. I'll be very tempted to get some vitamins, they certainly won't to any harm, and actually may help.

This is quite inexpensive and will go a long way will stop

pop eye is a bacteria infection and the most common cause is physical injury or bad water. The pop eye coupled with the HITH does point to bad water. When did you last change water, when did you test after that and when are you due to do another?
I can't get no sleep

X2 i concur....

afew weeks ago, i too had gone on vacation trip.... and my son took care of
feeding all my fishes. as instructed, he fed them every other day with controlled
quantity because i don't want to repeat what happen to my oscar before. when i
came back, the water is cloudy... without any testing, i just do large water
change immediately and clean the filter the day after.... so far, everything
is normal until now....

hi delboy we done a water change afew days before we went on holiday, then 10 days on holiday ,then changed the next morning , and now we will do the next change in 8 days time as the last course of octozin went in last night and it says not to change the water until 8 days after, he is not lying on the bottom of the tank so much and looks a bit brighter but the hith is still visible and the eyes still poppy and covered in cloudy fungy stuff ,our pleco and bristle cat fish are really healthy and we seem to have a plague of snails on the side of the tank so i guess that means the water must be quite good, the one thing i havnt mentioned is my friend did not know how to put the light on whilst we were away so ozzy was a bit in the dark for ten days ,

sometimes, medicating the tank really requires proper timing.
when fishes are in distress, the water should be kept in good
condition first... can you imagine the worse situation if you
medicate the tank for 8 days if you did not check the water
beforehand. the fish could die for long exposure to toxin

Does anyone know where I could get these vitamins in the US? I've been reading about HITH, and I whipped the tiny bit of carbon I had out of my filter. Is it advisable to add vitamins to the water as normal tank maintenance?

hi paul ,i know what your saying is true ,and i will keep checking the water ,but i still have to abide by the manafacturers instructions and i think they want the treatment to stay in the tank as long as pos to clear the infection ,ozzy is defo getting better but his eyes are still puffy and covered with that cloudy fungy stuff ,could some one plz advice on how to clear that up,also this might sound odd but i believe that ozzy is prefering it in his new room as thats where all the family relax his old room was hardly ever used so he gets to see someone all through the day and watches tv with us ,so they must be quite intellegent dont u think?

but i'd rather spend some more amount to re-dose the tank after water change
than allowing the fish expose to toxic. if you still have extra med, you can do
water change and add med corresponding the water volume remove. at least you
may able to lower some toxin in the tank...
