I just got me new oscars. I never had any before so its all new to me. I put them into my tank and they are laying on the bottom like they are dead but i can see them still breathing. Is this normal since i just got them and put into a new tank.

Tank has been running for about a month. It's a 55 gal with 4 in there for time being. I have a custom 500 gal that just got set up. They are babies now the pet store said. As the water stuff 0 on nit and amm. Ph is 7.2 so that's fine. I know tank is small for all of them but they are only 1 to 1.5 inchs now. And will move them when this tank is all set. Thanks for your response. They are all ready swimming some.

that is normal for bagging and transporting.... they will adjust soon if
the water is in good condition.... but if not, it will take sometime
and will breathe heavily....

When I got my baby oscars I kept the light off for 2 days and provided them with driftwood and plants that they could hide behind to feel safe. On the third day I turned on the light and needless to say by then they weren't shy at all. You might try something like that.
