Hi, I have 2 Oscars (shown in avatar) one albino and one lutino (i think). I got the albino about 3months after the lutino and it was much smaller at the time. And now 5 months down the line it has grown to be bigger than the lutino (pic is old btw). Is this normal for my lutino to slow down growing. It seems that it slowed down to let the little one catch up. They both have good apetites, even though the albino eats more of its fair share. Didnt think an extra pellet or two would have such an affect. Just wanted to know if this is normal and that my lutino is not stunting its growth? Also i wanted to know what people fed their Oscars aswell? Mine mainly eat fish sticks, pellets, prawns and mussles. Think i need more protein in their diet so going to start feeding dried mealworms/fish. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you get various Oscars all at the same time from the same batch then the chances are they will grow at a uniform rate and be of a similar size when they are adults. However, this isn't always necessarily the case, you just may find that one Oscar grows bigger than the other even though it may be eating just as much, as to why? I have no idea. It may be like many creatures in the natural world, you sometimes get very strong healthy animals that grow, and then others that may be a little bit weaker. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this, it's not actually something that's ever really bothered me, although I have had a couple of Oscar that have not quite grown as big as their siblings.
I may not always be right, but I am always the boss
