My oscar is about 3-4 inches. I have been feeding him oscar pellet food for a few wks now. I have a dempsey also. So yesterday I feed them I put about 4-5 pellets in there. So Im watching them. And I notice my O has a pellet half in his mouth. He was at the bottom of the tank. At 1st I thought he was playing w/ the food. About 1min later the pellet came out of his mouth. Then I see he has another one in his mouth. He looked like he was struggling to get it out. So I start thinking what to do. So I take the net to get him and all the pellets I put in there came out. I was so scared. If I wasnt there he would have died. I didnt relize he took every pellet I put in there. So for now on its flakes. Has anyone ever experienced this? Im new to oscars and the pellets. I cant imagine losing my baby because I did something wrong.

The only suggestion I can make is to feed smaller pellets. What size are you feeding now?

that is normal to juvenile oscar... eating like a pig as if there is
no tomorrow. that is the reason why we normal suggest to feed them
good enough for 2 to 3 minute grabbing; either to lessen bioloads,
and/or not to over feed them.

Small oscars will fill their mouths with food until no more will fit in and then theyh will try to eat more. I doubt the food was stuck, when you netted him he spat the food out as he was stressed about being netted

Oscar's eyes are bigger than their stomachs are...You have to be the one to limit the feeding. Less is better...they beg like champs.
