I have recently aquired a baby oscar he's about 3 inches long and I cannot get him to eat anything I tried pellets and I dropped some feeder fish in there as well and I'm getting concerned, then I read on here you should not give your oscar gold fish what should I do.

Hello,

I'm new to oscars too. You may want to try some frozen bloodworms. I know that get's my baby o's going. You could also ask the petstore or wherever you purchased him from what they were feeding him. Is he in a tank by himself?

well he was till I added the feeder fish but i'm thinking of adding another oscar but I did some research and I found that one of the two oscars could be aggressive and I did not get a fish so he could be bullied

if you just got him give it a couple of days to get used to his new tank.my oscars get used to certain pellets and won't eat the new ones for a few days, so i would ask the fish store what they were feeding him. hope everything goes ok and enjoy your new oscar

What are your water parameters? What is the temperature in your tank? Look at his belly just behind his fins is it rounded at all?

Peter the oscar is currently in a 20g tank the water temp is 78 to 80 I'm currently setting up a 60 gallon tank but The tank was pretty dirty so I"m going to run two filter systems for about a week to make sure everything is out.

Evabug is right, bloodworms should do the trick.
I just got a new Oscar some days ago and he was sulking badly, until i threw in some bloodworms.
Now he eats any fishfood i put in the tank and seems hungry all day long!
Please read the helpfull article section on cycling a tank, for that will take you more than a week!
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!

You should be feding your oscar on a variety of foods. Try some of these :- earthworm, maggots, mealworms, prawns(and other seafood), lance fish, pellets(sinking or floating) and any insects you can find.
