I aquired an old tank from a friend and its been sitting in his garage for a couple years so it needs to be cleaned very well and I heard your not suppose to use dish soap what should I use, sorry ppl I have lots of questions

white distilled vinegar can be used to clean an aquarium, its very nice to remove the mineral and calcium stains on the glass. just be sure to thoroughly rinse it 3-4 times before you put fish in it. NEVER use soap in a fish tank.

i usually use a mild vineger solution when cleaning a used tank. i find it helps with remiving the dried on stuff that can be hard to remove with only water. just be sure to rinse the tank out thoroughly after washing and things should be fine.
