My oscar is acting really strange.

He sits at the bottom of the tank and seems to have a kind of slime all over him. The Albino and the other fish are fine - nothing wrong with them.

He looks terribly thin, but he eats - well, he has the pellets in his mouth, doesnt eat them, he just keeps hold of them in his mouth, then lets go, trys to get the pellet back but by that time, the Albino has ate it...

Can anyone suggest whats wrong? We've also done a water test and the water is absolutely fine, no nitrite, nitrate, I just dont understand what the problem is.

I feel really sorry for him, even the Albino does too, he swims around his friend, like he's giving him some sympathy.

Not quite sure if you could post a pic we might be able to help more.Ive just lost one of mine that sounded similar to what you're experiencing now,only mine had ich so im presuming it was a follow on to the ich,hopefully some of the more experienced keepers can help,there normally on everyday.Hope he gets better soon.

I think it's possible that your Oscar has a parasitic infection of the skin. What you could try is treating the tank with a parasitic medication. If that doesn't work, I would suggest trying to take a skin scrape to a vet and have it examined to find out exactly what is causing the problem. If you think about it, if you have something wrong with your skin, the doctor would take a sample of skin to have it tested. It is virtually impossible to tell what's wrong just by looking at these sort of conditions

Not had time to check the pics but there is a disease called skin slime and a treatment for it

stress coat is a product that claims to repair the coating on the fish skin i hvnt used it mysellf but apperantly it works
