i have a 6" green severum and he is dark as charcoal almost pure black and only shows his colors when i clean the tank then an hour later he is back to being black again any idea when these guys start getting color? when he was little he was lit up all the time.
ive also noticed that my oscars lip lock for a while after i clean the tank (sometimes for a good 30 mins or more) they dont hurt each other just a couple scales lost sometimes, they also do this at other times for a second or two then it stops and they also vibrate there tails at each other should this be a concern or are they just messing around? they act like buddies any other time just lately its been an everyday thing. in the long fights they will lip lock then stop and go to the bottom of the tank together side by side and twirl around each other and sometimes dig then it will start up again 30 secs later.
the tank is 120g ive had them since september when they were barely 1".

They may be mimicking a mating dance, but they are too young yet to actually do anything about it! Damn Horney Teenagers.lol

As long as they aren't hurting each other seriously, I wouldn't worry.

And as far as your Sev, I have no idea... I only had one a short time. Maybe someone else can chime in here!

Green Sevs can go from dark to light color in under a minute. Color depends on their mood, water conditions and if they're eager to mate. The darker he is the calmer he is, mine get light when I do cleanings or if there's sudden movement near their tank. I have 2 adults and about 100 9 month olds and about 20 that are 6 months. I love'em but they gotta go!! They won't turn a true green if that's what you're waiting for or at least mine haven't. Good luck to you

hi Delboy I haven't been able to do much of anything except play with my grandbaby, she's taken over the house and our lives. I can't imagine life without her

I called the pet shop where I got the GS parents and he said he'd give me store credit for them but I really don't like this guy, he's lied to us about products and the fish and he sells dyed fish, I seriously hate that. All the other stores say they will take them as a donation and I may have to go that route. We paid $100 for the parents but he wants to give us $50 store credit for all the kids. Unless Nicki wants to drive over and take a couple dozen I don't know what we're gonna do with them. We have Jack Dempsey fry too but only about 50 of them are left. I did a water change and kept it at the same temp but I lost almost all of them, don't know what happened there.
I'm really gonna try to be here more, I've missed this place more than I can say. Baby is getting to where she likes to lay on the floor on a blanket so I'll be able to type again Thank you for the welcome back

LOL... Mo No house fires, but we did have to move. And now we are far enough out of town that we have to haul our own water. lol... So I am down to 5. 3 of which are over 100 gallons.
