Soo I went to bed last night after watching my fish for about an hour as usual and I noticed nothing strange. Then this morning when I came down to start my day off watching my fish I noticed there are a few white strands of something that Im guessing are a fungus growing off a fake plant. They almost look like cobwebs. My gut is telling me it is part of the start up cycle since it is a new tank but I dont remember seeing this anytime I set up a tank before. I know Im not over feeding and there is not much poop in there but to be on the safe side Im going to take out the plants to clean them and do a 25% water change. Any knowledge or suggestions from you guys ( gals included ) would be welcome.
Thanks in advance.
Soo

Its hard to tell but it looks like it might be the start of blanket weed (they look to green to me). Remove as much as possible by hand.

How long do you have your lights on for. You only need lights for you to see the fish, the light from the room is enough for them to see. The longer the light is on for the more algae you will get. Only have your lights on in the evening, say for 4 or 5 hours
