Ok so first of all my O is 3 months old in a 55 gallon with 1 pleco. I have black sand 1 holey rock couple white rocks and a black rocky/wooden background found on dr. fosters web. Good circulation and water quality is just fine. temp is at 76/78. I have read online that some people say that this stage in his life he wont show much of his redish colors, but i have also seen very colorful 3 month old o's. I feed him Hikari cichlid bio gold* and ocasionally crickets, mealworms, and rosy reds that are health in other tank... I do this only once a week and the pelts as staple diet. I dont understand why he isnt showing much red. ocasionally he will be very colorfull depending on mood but it wont last long... Does anyone have some info????

What are your water parameters? You are feeding him well and diversely. How long have you had your O?

Yeah thanks man...parameters are good 0 nitrite/ammonia. ph 7.6, 60 gallon whisper filter turned all the way up i have 2 aerators, and a fan that produces current. Yes i feed him well...I don't understand here is a pic, it kinda blows cause there is a reflection in here but you can see....he is only 3 months....Some people say at this stage they aren't very colorful but i have seen 3 month oscar's very colorful????

Oscars are like any other creature in that they vary in colours and brightness, you may just have one that is not very colourful. However they do change as they grow so your fish may get more colourful

there are some strain of oscar that shows coloring patter at the young age
but there are some that shows color only when fully grown. my lutino for one
shows coloring only after a few months.

that is a big oscar fish for only three months old!!
