Its a long but funny store how I wound up with my 1.5"-2" Oscar Bacardi but I will save it for another day. I had a few questions about my oscar that in the past week of reading oscar articles i haven't been able to find. I know oscars color's change but does anyone have any idea what it means when a black tiger oscar turns kind of milky white? he only turns that color in the middle and its not all the time.
Also ive had him for about 2 weeks and hes still shy. He wont come out to eat unless we're not in the room. I try and spend time with him but he still doesnt seem to want to do anything but sit. He loves his bubble wall and will play dead if it get shut off so he sulks and he likes to sit in it. Ive done a 15% water change every tue, thu, and sun. his water is fine. He doesnt seem to like the pellets but loves the frozen bloodworms. im not sure what i should do about the pellets.

hey, welcome to the site!

firstly yr oscar changing a liter colour is normal xan mean lots of things mine does it when i have pissed him off like when i srcubbin algea from inside his tank lol
yr oscar can be weaned onto pellets, try giving him afew pellets with his bloodworm then reduce the amount of bloodworm until he eats more pellets repeating this until he is eating nearly all pellets. trsust me if he is hungry enough he'l eat the pellets!

in regards to him being shy just be paitent, oscars r real drama queens he will get used 2 u evetually and become mroe adventouras!

look 4ward 2 hearing the funny story!

what size tank u got him in? and what filtration u using?

Matt

welcome to OFL. I've had my babies for about 2 weeks. and they are still very shy. I've a baby FH; 2 baby JD's and a baby Ablino Tiger Oscar all 2" with 2 tinfoils 2" too. in a 90 gal tank with driftwood, I bought my driftwood from an aquaria shop online. So i didn't really have to do much with it other than the specifications from the store to soak it for 2 weeks prior to putting in your tank. So that way it wont discolor your water and leech any stuff into the water along with the discoloration.
