Just wondering if any of you guys or girls have got, or seen a wild caught oscar?

I had 1 about 20years ago, he was 9 when he died.

I dont know if they still import them here, I was thinking of trying to get 1 if they do!

Holland has more FO Oscars than others.
Not that thats any good for you!lol
I don't favour wild caught fishfor i got some FO Plecos, they just do not get used to living in a tank and will hardly ever show.

I have never seen a wild caught Oscar in any of the shops in my district. I'm not even sure where my local fish store get that baby Oscars from. I would've thought a true wild caught Oscar would have to come from South America since this is where they are native to. I know that they can be found in other parts of the world but they have obviously been introduced accidentally or on purpose into the environment.

I'd say over here if they sell 10 reds, they got 20 wild ones in store.
They tell me that they'd stay a bit smaller than the coloured varieties but that seems unlikely to me.
They babys are very dull coloured and show a mostly greyish green colour and strange irregular patterns.

My old Oscar was a wild caught, I got from my dad at the time, he worked at Paignton zoo, in the Aquarium dept, and 'borrowed' a baby wild one for me!

He grew to 11inches, was a browny green colour, and a gorgeous fish.
He had a few temper tantrums, but was incredibly intelligent.

I cant help but wonder if the mass breeding of Oscars actually alters their personality.

I have 50/50 wild caught and tank bred stock in my Malawi tank, and boy can you tell the difference between them!

That is one of the only shops in Torbay that I haven't really used. The guy who owns it had contacted me a few months ago because he came across a little write-up I had done on my other website advertising a couple of the other shops and he wondered if I could be one for him, I said I would help him but I haven't got around to it just yet. You know that hairdressers Jan? that used to be owned by my mates wife who lived above the shop, New Zealand guy who emigrated to Australia a few years ago

I cannot remember if he was called Adrian. However he did say he normally only goes in on a Sunday

If you look up on top of the roofs where you live you will see a white aerial about five or 6 foot long, that used to be mine it's above the end flat
