Hey guys im new to this site and kinda new to Oscar keeping. Now i currently have a 55Gallon tank with a 5-6" Tiger Oscar and a 5-6" Plecostomus. (Im guessing on the measurements cause i dont really know how to measure them without taking them out but i didnt really wanna do that.) Now today i left to go do some stuff and i came home 3 hours later to find my Oscar looking like he went through a shredder. He looked perfectly fine before i left but now his scales are falling off on his sides and a little on top his head. Interestingly enough he is still very active, swimming back and forth begging for food, but it looks like he got some disease or something.

Here are some pictures i took:

I dont know what to do or how even got this problem so quickly. Please help by giving me any advice on what to do.

If you have any questions ill try and answer them.

Thank you.

OK, several questions Hun... First off welcome

I need to know, how long your tank has been up and running? What filters are you using?
And can you please post your water readings for Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, and PH.

What can you tell me about your tank maintenance?
It's NOT smart to piss off the girl with the BAN button!

fish TB, parasites, ulcers, fights..all kinds of things. Like nicki said we really need more info on your maintenance and anything else that may or may not be a symptom to help narrow it down.

Might be internal bacteria that needs an antibiotic like marycyn, but will be pointless if theres things going on that we dont know about yet. Melafix also is a more natural remedy for some types of missing scales as far as symptoms.

In addition to nickisues questions, are there any sharp objects in the tank?
