hi guys i got this 12 inch female oscar about a day ago shes not takeing any dry food from me she just looks at it the lfs said they was giving her fish to eat i rly dont want to give her live fish to eat but might have to what would u guys do

This is not uncommon. If you can get hold of live crickets then they are very good. Garden worms are also quite good. What you could try doing is stop feeding for two or three days and then see if your Oscar will accept dry food. Sometimes starving them into submission works. Maybe get another variety of pellet and see if she likes those. Oscars can be a pain in the backside sometimes when it comes to food. I shouldn't worry, if the fish is healthy it won't starve itself to death, it might just be a little bit stubborn to begin with.

Oscars will eat if they are hungry. Try to get them on a routine, like when you first wake up turn on the light and feed them. By doing this the recognize its feeding time and you could put anything in there and they would try to eat it.

Also not eating could be a sign of bad water conditions. What are your parameters

Ammonia
Nitrite
Nitrate
pH

seeing as you only got the oscar yesterday i wouldnt worry too much, it can take them a few days to settle into a new tank

hey I would love to see a pic.. 12 inches is something biggg... any idea whats the biggest???
