I currently have four oscars, and although I am currently trying to find homes for two of my oscars, it's taking a little time, and my two older ones Bubba and Billy Bob won't stop attacking my new babies, one is only and inch and the other is an inch and a half. Bubba and Billy Bob are about 5 or 6 inches. The bigger of the babies can hold his own and will fight back, and seems to want to fight, but the littest one dosen't want anything to do with it and tries to get away and he just lays in the corner not doing much, I'm the most concerned about him. I had a albino tiger baby killed a few weeks ago that was the same way and I dont want to see it happen again since I don't even like the one thats the moset aggressive. I have a divider but theres a space in it where the little ones can get by and they do. I've completely rearranged the tank set up and they still fight. I'm sure there's nothing else I can do but I thought I'd try anyway.

as much as you probly wont want to do i suggest gettin rid of the one causing the problem as its not good for the the others.
if possible for you to get another tank and seperate them therefor you can still keep him.
some fish prefer to be alone as my parent two angel fish wont let any other fish in with them
my oscars also have little arguments but they dont go as far as hurting one and another.

but in your situation i would remove the agressive one so the others can have a nice life

oo i forgot do you have lighting and if you do try turning it off as oscars dont neciserily like te light its more for your vewing plesure. my tank lights are only even on now when im feeding or having a better inpspection of the fish. mine calmed down loads now and are actualy more active and seem happier

Oh I'm going to definatly get rid of the problem one, I just have to find a place for him first, I was just trying to see if there was anyway I could make it civil in there in the mean time. When hes fighting with the one that won't back down he pushes him with his mouth open, but dosen't ever seem to bite, he just charges him so to speak and pushes him. I guess I'll just have to try to do what I can then.

turn the lights out. but most oscars do what your saying with the mouth. if hes causing no actualy damage im sure hel be fine till yopu can sort another home for it. try your local fish store as they normaly give you credits for fish. ive taken a few from my comunity tank back to them as theyve became evil and there realy fine when you do so as they sell them on. when i bought my oscars they where already a year old and they guy who took them there didnt realise how big they can grow so i gave them a nice home and they are much healthier now.
so taking him back will give him a good chance of an easy life. hes probly just a grumpy sod who like to be on his own hahaha

Yea, I'm probably going to end up taking him back to the LFS but unfortunatly I'm not lucky enough to get a credit or anything for him at mine. I'm a bit nervous about turning the lights off because thats when my other little one was killed, I heard splashing water all night that night and as soon as it stopped I looked and he was dead, they took his gill off! I'll keep an eye on them until I can get rid of the jerk on saturday. Thanks everyone.

lol I'm sure I'd get laughed at as well, this place is the only place around where I live that will take fish back after 14 days, and there aren't too many people that buy oscars around here so most of the time they get the adult oscars and they all just sit in a tank that too small for them for a longgg time, so I must be inconviencing them if you think about it. lol
