My Oscar is big enough (so I surmise) to eat nightcrawlers now so I bought him some...jesus, those guys are big and can be pretty spunky...I opened up the bait and about three of them tried to fight their way out...dropped one in and my Oscar is just kind of looking at him like 'WTF is THIS thing?' Interested in hearing if your Oscar likes them...also, is it possible for them to latch onto human faces and drain blood a la lamprey eels? This is of importance to me. I saw 'Squirm' so I know what they're capable of and would prefer to avoid such unpleasant confrontations. Should I use BBQ tongs when feeding so they don't attach?
so far my O eats pellets, corn, frozen silverside fish, stopped feeders months ago..
its prolly the same look my oscar just had when i just dropped blood worms in for the first time...starred at it like wtf is this then once he smelled it attacked it like a shark lol
also, should I just drop him in and leave the room or continue to dangle him as my O is rather unsure...I've found sometimes my Oscar is more curious after I leave..
He might be full too as he's already had some pellets and a few fishies.
mine loves them too, and did the same when i introduced them to him the first time.but he'll eat them. i left one in all night with him and it was alive the next day,so i pulled it out and dropped it back in about a few hours later, the rest is history!!
whenever you want to give your fish a treat, always starve
him for a day and he will anything that drops on water the
next day. you will be surprised how powerful he to rip the crawler.
I used to feed worms from the garden, take them and chop them up and put them through a fine mesh to rinse them but I was told that the digested earth in a worm is sterile. The worm processes the dirt. Just wash the dirt from them before I chopped them up.
I take it this is true?
Thet're perfect for handfeeding!
If i drop them in my O will go crazy too, from the first time he ate one.
I fed him a large one when my red was only a few inches.
It was like he was fighting a Boa constrictor!
But he won and nothing was left.
